Chana dal masala khichdi


Ingredients:

½ cup chana dal

½ cup brown rice

1 onion roughly chopped

Chopped vegetables of your choice(cauliflower,corns, peas, broccoli,carrot, spinach)

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tsp fenugreek seeds

1 tbsp chopped ginger

Salt to taste

½ tsp coriander seed powder

½ tsp red chilly powder

½ tsp cumin seed powder

5 cup water

2 tbsp Desi ghee

Fresh cilantro for garnishing











Method

Soak dal and rice in water for half n hour.

Add Ghee in pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds. Add chopped ginger. Fry for few seconds than add onions and fry it for a minute.






Add the chopped vegetables.






Add salt,cumin seed powder, coriander seed powder and red chilly powder. Mix it well and add 5 cups of water. When water comes to boil add dal and rice to this.

Pressure cook it for 5 to 6 whistles (depends from cooker to cooker)and than take it off the flame.

Open the pressure cooker after 15 to 20 minutes and mix it well. Add freshly chopped cilantro and serve it hot with Desi ghee or Yogurt.
