Kurkuri arbi

( Spicy and crispy Colocassia )


250 gm Arbi (approximately 10 pieces)

1 onion thinly sliced

Salt to taste

½ tsp cumin seeds (jeera)

½ tsp fenugreek seeds (methi)

2 dry red chillies

1 tsp red chilly powder

½ tsp turmeric powder

½ tsp dry mango powder (amchoor)

½ tsp coriander powder

½ tsp garam masala


Peel , slice and wash arbi. Keep it to dry for sometime.

In a pan add oil and shallow fry arbi till them turn light golden brown (you can also deep fry).

Take out the arbi in plate and in same pan add 1 tbsp oil. Add cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and dry red chillies.

When they start sputtering add sliced onions. Saute it till onions turn light brown. Now add turmeric powder, red chilly powder , garam masala and coriander powder. Mix them and add arbi. Toss it nicely and add dry mango powder. Let it cook on low flame for 5 to 7 minutes. Turn off the heat and kurkuri arbi is ready to serve with hot chapati's.
